Mid-Term Day

In class today we had to prepare and get our mid-terms together, so we could submit them today. After missing two weeks of class, I didn’t think I would have to comer back and submit a mid-term, but I accomplished my goal, it was a little hard, but in the end I pulled threw. Ivan told us the specific assignments that had to be turned in, and that he would give us to Friday to submit them. Now that’s a cool teacher right!

Virtruvian Man

Our assignment for today was to test the Vitruvian Man theory and see if it’s true or false. We had to get information from our classmates by measuring each other’s body parts. Alot of students were missing today in cluding myself. I think that the more information that we collected the better our chances were to test the Vitruvian Man theory. After the information we gathered, the theory seemed untrue.For the Vitruvian Man theory to work,we probably would have needed the whole class .

Digital Camera Day…………..

Today in class we had to bring our digital camera’s in class. We were going to take a picture of an image and put it on our blog.

I took a picture of a laptop, because it means alot to me. My laptop helps me do alot of things, such as remeber appointments, important things I have to do later in the week, remember the babies doctor appointments. I also used my laptop to do most of my homework, study with it, even listen to music …

Today we went over our assignments, and Mr. Ivan told us what we will need to hand in for our mid term. This semester is flying by really fast, I know I have been absent half of them, but its still going by really fast. Our discussion in calss today was about raster and vector. These are two things i didn’t really think made since, but when you learn about it you will see. I never took the time out to read and see what they were about. Im still lost about the two images, but the more I read the more it would make since to me

Little green gadgets plant ideas in Peru

Today’s topic is on the “Little green gadgets plant ideas in Peru” which is a laptop program founded in 2005 by MIT Media Lab Director Nicholas Negroponte.

The purpose of the program is to help other countries such as Rwanda, Mongolia, and Afghanistan be able to afford laptops for themselves, schools, and thier community.

The laptops will help everyone, it would help the poorest kids be knowledgeable about simple computers, It will be useful for the community because there children will have access, it will hel,p the school, by making it easier and better to teach.

The disadvantages hat everyone have is that you must purchase one of the laptops which are a 100 dollars. This useful tool won’t even be brought up in the rural communties. The have the advantage of using hightech, fast running computer’s instead of a simple, made for the lower class laptop.

I dont think CPS, could use the system, First off, CPS, has too many students to even have such system like this. I dont think CPS would choose the system because of how they break there students up. There smarter children attend some of the state of the art schools, but there regular students attend regular schools

Is Computer Technology Necessary?

I actually missed class today, but I still want to elaborate on the subject. To me computer techonolgy is definetly needed in today’s society. If it wasn’t for computer’s nothing would really function right. We have the streetlights that is controlled by computer technology. We have cell phones that are controlled by computer technology. Computer technology is used create alot of things such as cars, stores, schools, houses. All most 99% of things in the world are used by some sort of computer technology. I don’t agree with the prices on most computer tech. things, but in the end, its worth the buy.

Today’s Lesson in Class

In class today, we looked at the first computer that was ever made. The computer looked like a thousand pieces of wires just hanging from a board. It looked really messy. It actually looked like a fire hazard, I thought the next slide was going to be a picture of a fire (lol). After we looked at the computer we had to make a proposal. The proposal was to buy laptops or desktops for a class we plan to run. We had to basically set up a computer classroom. How many students we had, if we were going to use laptops or desktops, if we are going to have individuals printers or one printer connected to all. That was the lesson for the day. I really enjoy being in that classroom, because it gives me a chance, to refresh my memory on computers.

January 15,2008- First Day In Class

My name is jameal mathis, and this is my second semester at Harold Washington College. I was born and raised on the south side of chicago. I am the second to the youngest. I have two brother’s and one sister. I moved out the house at the age of thirthteen and lived with my aunt til the age of 17. When I graduated from high school I was on my own. I now have my own apartment in the pill hill neighborhood. I now attend Harold Washington College. Im currently taking this education course, because I am required to do so, and I can enhance my skills on computer technology. I don’t consider myself as computer literate. I know a little about computer’s. Especially browsing on the internet.

Today is my first day in my Education 101-Technology in the Classroom. I’m enjoying myself right now, because we have our personal laptop to work on while we are in class. I’m also excited because I have my same professor from last semester, and I enjoy his style of teaching. In class today, we were asked to print out our syllabus from blackboard. The professor said we are going paperless this semester. We went over the syllabus, then we were told to go to wordpress.com and create a blog. That is basically an online journal.
